In the two brand-new episodes of sPONGEbOBO šWAMMgODS, God’s Entertainment once again descends to the ocean floor and mingles with the down-to-earth inhabitants of Bikini Bottom. Life at the bottom of the sea is remarkably similar to life on land, and so sPONGEbOBO šWAMMgODS takes us straight into our own world of neuroses and existential fears, overcompensation, problems of the lower classes, pressure to perform and never-ending hopes.
This time, the setting is a found ocean liner. Here, ideas about being human and alternative conceptions in relation to contemporary forms of representation are explored. The ocean is a symbol of “nature”, the “eternal”, the “origin of life”. The sea is always the same and never the same; it is beautiful and frightening, organic and fertile, sublime and banal. The ocean is a place of play, but also a vast nothingness.
šWAMMgODS absorb everything and take everything in, joyfully prepared to be squeezed out in solidarity, down to the very last drop, in an act of diluted self-realisation.
The collective splashing for political swimming, Boboism, tentacle spectacle and critical thought training takes place on 14/15/21/22 July at 8:00 pm. On all other days, Bikini Bottom presents itself from 3:00–9:00 pm as a maritime total installation, somewhere between shallow waters and dangerous depths, a short holiday trip without having to travel.
