Interactive sculpture/spatial installation, Diploma Thesis, Department of Transmedial Art, University of Applied Arts Vienna, 2015
(H x B x T – 226 x 62 x 55; 100 x 190 x 210) Gesamt ca. 226 x 300 x 350
The installation consists of two parts, which communicate with each other. The lounge, taken from Café BOEM*, and the Dartmachine, which was reprogammed. Like normal, the machine counts the scores, but at the same time, audiofiles are played. The Files are documentations of the last 5 Years of BOEM* – cooperations, collaborations etc. There is also a LED-ticker, which constitutes a visual layer of the Archive. It plays back quotations, keywords and keysentences.
A social network, constantly interweaving, compacting and broaden itself since the founding of the Project.
The Sounds are triggered by every third arrow hitting the dartboard.
Technically, it is an experiment trying to transform a complex construct into a simple form. Essence without losing complexity. I see the „Gaming Machines“ as a tool for visualization of the artefacts of our work. The informations from the archive are witnesses of social interactivity and – at the same time – they produce new interactions. Topic and medium is life itself, people and their social activities.
The function of „Gaming Archives“ is the exploration of social liaisons using already existing relations, which we are part of. The Material is the same as the one used for daily social exchange.
There. Where borders between producer and consumer become more and more blurred, it starts to get fascinating.
