SHIFT – Prize for Innovative Art
Champagne Performance, Food Performance in front of AMS Pilgramgasse, Vienna 2021
MONEYFESTA21
Festival of political art, theory and practice – #moneyfesta21
| all nomads are workers
July – September 2021
What a brave new world? Is everyone now looking out for themselves, or do collective processes also have a future? Who is excluded and how, and how can we create a public space – in which autonomy and self-determination do not merely support the interplay of existing social groups and classes? What roles can art and culture play in this? What is known as “urban gardening” in cities like Vienna helps in many places to meet basic food needs in times of crisis and to ensure survival. When we look at international art and cultural events, we get the feeling that the biggest problems are those between ethnic groups, different religious groups, between Covid deniers and alarmists – and that class plays no major role. Social division in all its forms and on a permanent basis – in a time of crisis of representation, which was not caused solely by Covid-19, these existing dynamics are being exacerbated. We are seeking questions, answers, actions, interventions and “best practice” examples of social engagement in the production of public discourse.
Participating artists and collectives: Andre De Vasconcelos (Vienna), Blind Date Collaboration (Vienna), Context Cocktail (Vienna), eastKost – Julia Portnowa & Jürgen Rendl (Berlin/Bratislava), Kolxoz Kолхоз (Tiraspol/Prague), Margareten gegen Rechts (Vienna), Panzerschokolade (Vienna), Queer Museum Vienna, Salon Bildung (Vienna), Sasha Pevak (Paris), Ulrich Formann (Vienna).
A project by Kitchen – Zentrum der Tat:
Alexander Nikolic and Michael Kalivoda (Boem*), Alisa Beck and Marie-Christin Rissinger (Olympionik*innen Productions), Andre De Vasconcelos, Eszter Korodi (and others).
