Art is the continuation of politics by other means.
Slavoj Žižek once made a remarkable observation: “There is no ethnic cleansing without poetry.”
In light of the literary precursors and instigators of the Yugoslav Wars, such as the writer, philosopher and member of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences Dobrica Cosic, the poet and nationalist dissident Vuk Draškovic, or the psychiatrist, doctor and poet Radovan Karadžić, whose work continues to exert an influence in Vienna, we counter this with a transnational, activist concept of performance. Our work will seize them, just as Josef Fritzl seized his grandchildren.
Our art limits life. During our first attempt to celebrate the wedding in Vienna, reserve units marched in plain clothes. In a further attempt, we are this time inviting you to attend our wedding ceremony in Krems. We ask you: Come in all your splendour and celebrate with us that in this country we are allowed to live our love openly even in times of peace, and not just in times of war! Bring floral tributes! Throw rice at us! Stick banknotes onto our musicians!
