In the first episode of a series of international dining events at the Kitchen, 25 guests may enjoy a delicious fish-dish straight from the Atlantic, prepared by our Portuguese islander, André. Accompanied by Stories from and about the history of Bacalhau und the sociocutlural relevance!
Codfish (bacalhau in portuguese, traditionally salted and dried for preservation) is one of the great treasures of the Northern Atlantic, it had already been valued by the Vikings for its essential vitamins (A and D) and minerals that help avoid diseases caused by the lack of sunlight during long northern winters.
Nevertheless, „bacalhau con natas” has proved to be a wonderful meal, also during long and hot Viennese summers, ideally paired with a light and cool green wine from Portugal.
